Losing or having your cellphone stolen is often a disaster because more often than not it contains the only copy of your address book. While you are able to replace your number by doing a SIM swap with your network operator, it is often difficult and time-consuming to replace the long list of contacts one by one. There are ways to avoid this happening to you.

Software Solutions

You can make use of an online phonebook which allows you to store your cellphone contacts online and transfer them to your particular cellphone model.

You can also make use of cloud computing services, by backing up your contacts (and other sensitive information) to the cloud. Regardless of what hapens to your phone, this information remain untouched, and you can access it from any device.

Hardware Solutions

There are a few hardware products available on the market that store phone numbers on them in the same way that a thumb drive saves data onto your computer. These devices plug into most cellphone models on one end and a PC on the other. With a simple push of a button it saves all of your contacts and through an associated software program you can add or edit your contacts then sync the changes with your phone from your PC.

A very simple option would be to have two SIM cards, one that you use on a daily basis and another that is used purely for the storage of all your contacts in the event that you lose your cellphone. The only problem with this option is that you have to make sure that you don't lose the SIM card as well.

Another option is to backup your contacts to the memory card that you have in your phone.  Then you can keep the memory card in a safe place to restore onto a new phone if necessary.
